The Personal Navigation Bar, located on the upper right hand corner of every page of the site, is provided to help you navigate through your personal items within the Site. It helps you find your friends, your groups, your profile and your account all in one place! If you are not currently seeing your Personal Navigation Bar, then you likely need to sign in to the site.
“My Account” Drop Down Menu
When you roll the mouse over your profile picture or the arrow next to it in the Personal Navigation Bar, you will see that the words “My Account” pop up. This indicates that you are now looking at your “My Account” Menu. This menu is created for you to find all important information related to your personal account in one place. Just click on your picture or on the arrow next to it and the menu will drop down. The “My Account” Menu includes:
"News" Link
This link in the Personal Navigation Bar takes you to the Community News Stream, where you can learn all about the latest happenings of the members of the site. This is a great place to share what you are up to, to get inspired by something another member shares, and to meet new friends!
"Profile" Link
This link takes you to your personal profile that includes all things personal to you! This is definitely a section of the site with which you will want to familiarize yourself so that you can be up on all the latest activity, friends, groups, etc. This is also the location where you can change personal settings, accept invites to groups and friend requests, and adjust the details of your profile, including sharing more about yourself and your profile picture (or avatar).
“Groups” Drop Down Menu
Click on the word “Groups” or the arrow next to it to access your personal Groups Drop Down Menu. This is a way to quickly access:
“Friends” Menu
The “Friends” Menu provides quick access to all things related to your friends. You can access the Friends menu by clicking on the little icon in the Personal Navigation Menu that looks like the picture you see to your left. The “Friends” Menu include:
“Messages” Menu
The “Messages” Menu provides quick access to your personal Inbox within Shift Movement and quick access to send a personal message to a friend or member. (Your ability to send a personal message to a friend or member will depend on their privacy settings.) The red box with a number above your “Messages” icon, like the picture to the left, indicates how many unread messages you have in your Inbox.
“Notifications” Menu
The “Notifications” Menu notifies you about all kinds of recent Shift Movement-specific activity that relates to you. This can include pending friendships and group invitations, comments on your blog posts or forum posts, and more. This is a great place to start each time you come to the site, to see how others members are reaching out to and connected with you. The red box with a number above your “Notifications” icon, like the picture to the left, indicates how many unread notifications you currently have.
Note: The search bar you see above the Personal Navigation Bar is a site wide search and is a great way to find members, groups, blogs, etc. around a certain subject or location
