The Personal Navigation Bar, located on the upper right hand corner of every page of the site, is provided to help you navigate through your personal items within the Site. It helps you find your friends, your groups, your profile and your account all in one place! If you are not currently seeing your Personal Navigation Bar, then you likely need to sign in to the site.
“My Account” Drop Down Menu
When you roll the mouse over your profile picture or the arrow next to it in the Personal Navigation Bar, you will see that the words “My Account” pop up. This indicates that you are now looking at your “My Account” Menu. This menu is created for you to find all important information related to your personal account in one place. Just click on your picture or on the arrow next to it and the menu will drop down. The “My Account” Menu includes:
Invite Friends – This link takes you to a page where you can invite friends to join Shift Movement (Shift Movement is an “invite” only community. So, if you want friends to join, this is the best way to do so).
Go to my Blog - This link takes you to a list of all the blog entries that you have created, and it is also where you can create a new blog entry.
Go to my Shifts – This link takes you to the page where you can make a Shift! This is an opportunity to share with other members a Shift that you are committed to making to improve your own life or the lives of others. This is a great way to get support from the community in really making change in your life.
Account Settings – This link takes you to your Account Settings. You can change your Email or Password here. Move to the E-mail notification tab and you can change your notification preferences there.
Privacy Settings – This link takes you to your Privacy Settings. To learn more about the various privacy setting options click here.
Support - This link takes you to the Support Page where any questions you may have about the site can be answered. This is a great place to start for all that you desire to learn about the site.
Log Out - This is where you can log out of Shift Movement if you so choose. Remember to save your user name or password if you choose to log out!
This link in the Personal Navigation Bar takes you to the Community News Stream, where you can learn all about the latest happenings of the members of the site. This is a great place to share what you are up to, to get inspired by something another member shares, and to meet new friends!
This link takes you to your personal profile that includes all things personal to you! This is definitely a section of the site with which you will want to familiarize yourself so that you can be up on all the latest activity, friends, groups, etc. This is also the location where you can change personal settings, accept invites to groups and friend requests, and adjust the details of your profile, including sharing more about yourself and your profile picture (or avatar).
“Groups” Drop Down Menu
Click on the word “Groups” or the arrow next to it to access your personal Groups Drop Down Menu. This is a way to quickly access:
Invitations to groups from friends
The list of groups of which you are a member
The Groups home page (under the Community Section) so that you can browse all groups and find others of interest to join
Link to create your own group (Members can create up to 3 groups. After you have created your 3 groups, this link will no longer appear.)
The “Friends” Menu provides quick access to all things related to your friends. You can access the Friends menu by clicking on the little icon in the Personal Navigation Menu that looks like the picture you see to your left. The “Friends” Menu include:
A link to access the list of your friends quickly
A link to the Members Page (under the Community Section) to find new friends
A link to view your friend requests (A red box with a number above your “Friends” Icon, like in the picture to the left, indicates how many friend requests you currently have
The “Messages” Menu provides quick access to your personal Inbox within Shift Movement and quick access to send a personal message to a friend or member. (Your ability to send a personal message to a friend or member will depend on their privacy settings.) The red box with a number above your “Messages” icon, like the picture to the left, indicates how many unread messages you have in your Inbox.
The “Notifications” Menu notifies you about all kinds of recent Shift Movement-specific activity that relates to you. This can include pending friendships and group invitations, comments on your blog posts or forum posts, and more. This is a great place to start each time you come to the site, to see how others members are reaching out to and connected with you. The red box with a number above your “Notifications” icon, like the picture to the left, indicates how many unread notifications you currently have.
Note: The search bar you see above the Personal Navigation Bar is a site wide search and is a great way to find members, groups, blogs, etc. around a certain subject or location
