What is a Group Forum and how does it work?

All forums on Shift Movement are attached to a group.  Each group can have one forum.  There are not tiers in each group forum; so, all the posts in a group forum will be listed on the Forum tab in each group.

How the “Community – Group Forums” tab works:

When you click “Group Forums,” you are shown a running list of all the forum topics from all the public groups on Shift Movement.  You can click the name of the group on the left side Group Forums menu to sort for post by group.

When you click on any forum topic, you will be taken to the specific group forum page, rather than staying on the “Group Forums” tab.  So, once you click on a forum topic, note that you are on a particular group.

How to reply to a topic in the forums:

In order to reply to any topic in the Group Forums, you will need to be a member of the group where the post resides.  If the group is a public group, you can simply join the group by clicking the “Join Group” button in the top right corner of each group (Under the "My Shift" menu).

How can I edit my forum post?

You can edit your post by clicking the “Edit” button under your avatar (personal photo) in your post.

When you reply to a forum topic, or create a new forum topic, your post will be displayed on the forum and it will also be noted as an activity item in the:

  • Main community activity stream
  • Group activity stream
  • Your personal activity stream
  • And it’s title will be found in the “Group Forums” section

Sort topics you started by clicking the “My Discussions” tab

You can click “My Discussions” in the forum to sort posts that you created.
