How to Join a "Secret Group" on Facebook

Joining your Course's Facebook Community Group after the second week of the course when the group has become a "Secret Group":

Please Note:  If you don’t already have a Facebook account, you’ll need to create one first before attempting to do the following steps. See our tutorial, “Creating a Facebook Account”, if you need assistance.

We'll start the Facebook Course Community Group for your course as a "Closed Group", and then for added privacy, we'll change the group to a "Secret Group"  at about the second week of the course. To be able to link to the group from the purple Course Community Group tab on your Course Homepage after the group is a "Secret Group", you will need to complete the following simple steps first:

  1. Fill out this form: The Shift Network Course Community Group Join Request.

  2. When we receive it, we will send you an email invitation from Facebook. We usually send the invites within one business day. Please keep an eye out for this email, and when you open it, you must click on the request membership link in the email, or you will not be added to the group. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you don't see this email in your normal inbox, please check your Spam, or for Gmail users, check your Social Tab. Please do not delete the email before you are confirmed as a group member.

  3. Once you have  completed the above steps, we'll add you to the group! You will then be able to access the group simply by clicking on the purple "Course Community Group" tab on the top left of your  Course Homepage. (The link to your Course Homepage, where all the classes are listed and where you access the class recordings, can be found in the Orientation Details email you were sent when you registered for the course.)

Note: To join your Course Community Facebook Group in the beginning of the course when the group is a still a "Closed Group", please see our tutorial, "Joining Your Facebook Course Community Group."
