What if I can't attend sessions live?

Not to worry! We have designed this program to work even for those with busy schedules, as well as for those that live in different time zones.

While we hope you’ll attend as many live class sessions as possible, you’ll be able to stream recordings. You’ll never have to worry about missing a session, and you can watch them anytime and anywhere at your convenience.

If you are unable to join class sessions live, we request that you access the replay within the same week, when possible, to stay up on the material. All recordings can be accessed on the Program Homepage. Recordings typically become available within 48 hours, and written transcripts within one week. You have ongoing access to these materials.

It is important to note that live attendance is required for Mentorship Circles, but they will be scheduled for a variety of days and times to accommodate varying time zones and availability.

Video Recordings of Class Sessions

Digital video recordings will be available for you to stream in high-quality format of each live class session. You’ll never have to worry about missing a session, and you can watch anytime and anywhere at your convenience.

Video Recordings of Mentorship Circle Sessions 

Each Mentorship Circle session will be recorded and distributed to individual circle members only — providing a safe container and maintaining confidentiality. You'll be able to review your progress based on feedback from your mentor and watch your growth and development over time. Witnessing your own practice and presentation is an invaluable part of your mediumship journey.

Audio Recordings of Class Sessions

Audio recordings will be available for you to stream in high-quality MP3 format of each live class session. You’ll never have to worry about missing a session, and you can listen anytime and anywhere at your convenience.

Transcripts of Class Sessions

In addition to the high-quality videos and MP3 audios, you’ll also receive the entire session transcription of each live class session. You can then review, print, and highlight the insights and practices you found most impactful.

What are the program requirements?

Attendance Requirements

  • All Weekly Classes and Master Practitioner Sessions (36 total) 
    • Live on Zoom attendance (or review recordings)
  • Live Attendance of all Weekly Mentorship Circles (36 total) 
    • 90 minutes in duration
    • Live on-camera Zoom Attendance Mandatory
    • Of 36 total Circle sessions, minimum attendance is required at 30; student is allowed to miss 6 live Circle sessions (non-subsequent) 
    • If there’s an emergency or illness and you need to miss a live Mentorship Circle:
      • You must notify your Teacher/Mentor prior to missing the session
      • You may not miss more than 6 Mentorship Circles and successfully complete the program
      • Makeup classes may begin to be “made up” after 6 circles have been missed.
      • You may not miss more than one session in a row
      • You must review the recording, and 
      • Arrange your own practice with circle mates outside of class. 
      • Notify your teacher afterwards for makeup credit. 
        • Please provide 1 week’s notice in order to join another circle for makeup attendance. No last minute make-ups will be allowed.
        • All Makeup Circles MUST be completed by mid-October.
        • We will not approve any makeup circles beyond October.
        • Up to 3 makeup circles may be made up for credit.

Assessment Requirements

  • April Practicum: Perform 3-6 psychic readings with other students outside your circle.
  • August Practicum: Perform 3-6 mediumship readings with other students outside your circle. 
  • December: Provide a written reflection (of your experience) and forward planning on your mediumship journey (500-1,200 words). Submit no later than December 7, 2027. 

Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion

Upon successfully completing the year-long program, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion affirming that you’ve achieved the first level of the science, theory, and practical applications of evidential mediumship, based on the “Whole Mediumship” teachings of Mavis Pittilla. 

All assignment submissions must be received no later than December 7, 2027. Review period is 5 days.

Is it possible to audit the program if I love to learn, but don’t have a need for the Certificate of Completion?

Yes! This program will provide excellent learning for everyone who wishes to go deeper into this work. This option is ideal if you're interested in the program content but need a flexible learning approach. 

The cost of the program remains the same. Auditing simply allows you to access the program materials and participate at your own pace without the pressure to complete assignments, practicums or meet deadlines.

You can choose to continue participating in group discussions (circles) if you wish. However, full participation is expected to avoid disrupting others. You can also fully opt out of circles entirely, focusing solely on the self-paced learning materials.

What is the program's focus?

The Essentials Training offers a comprehensive learning journey inspired by the teachings of Mavis Pittilla, one of the most experienced and iconic mediums of the last 50 years.

Mavis believed that to excel in mediumship, practitioners must deeply understand themselves, their souls, and their connections to the Universe. This self-awareness, combined with practical skills, leads to the highest quality of spirit communication and healing.

The year-long Essentials Training offers a strong foundation on which to build your mediumship skills. For those wishing to undertake even more rigorous mediumship training to enhance their skill set and become a more confident medium, we offer one additional program designed to deepen self-inquiry, hone intuitive skills, and expand your mediumship abilities even further. 

  • Skill-Building: This intermediate program can be taken after successfully completing the Essentials Training. It focuses on enhancing your mediumship skills, providing advanced techniques to elevate your practice as you dive deeper into self-inquiry and refine your intuitive abilities.

Will this program certify me to practice as a medium? 

The Evidential Mediumship Academy — Essentials Training is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of evidential mediumship. While we don't offer a traditional certification, our program focuses on equipping you with the knowledge and skills to develop your abilities as a medium.

Through this program, you'll embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. You'll learn to connect with the spirit world and serve others compassionately.

Successfully completing this program means that you have experienced the initial theory and teachings of “Mavis Pittilla’s Whole Mediumship program.” You have achieved a greater understanding of the God Source, Spirit World, and Mediumship and have learned more about yourself and your role in communicating with the Spirit World and your Soul.

Upon successfully completing the year-long program, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion affirming that you’ve achieved the first level of the science, theory, and practical applications of evidential mediumship, based on the teachings of Mavis Pittilla. The certificate serves as a testament to your dedication and progress in mastering the principles of evidential mediumship. This knowledge and experience will also benefit you in other areas of your life, regardless of your professional field.

Through your experience of the moral and ethical professional approach of this program, you will carry the wisdom of these teachings into everything you do in the world, no matter what your professional field is.

It is important to note that there is no official certification process associated with this program, and we are not affiliated with an accrediting body. This program does not focus on the logistics associated with opening a business as a professional medium, nor can we endorse you as a practicing medium once you have completed this program. That being said, here are the program goals:

Begin a life-changing spiritual journey, building your capacity to serve as a conduit for accurate communication with the spirit world.

Build a strong foundation for becoming an effective evidential medium who compassionately serves those on both sides of the veil — while gaining personal, professional, and metaphysical wisdom and skills that continue to blossom over time.

Your highly qualified teachers will share skills, techniques, and wisdom you can use to deepen your self-development and mediumship skills as you learn how to serve the world with your mediumship practice.

Jean Else received a first-class education in mediumship from her wife of 24 years, world-renowned UK medium Mavis Pittilla. Having been a schoolteacher all her life, Jean was able to transfer her organizational and educational skills to work with Mavis to develop courses and programs that helped educate aspiring mediums. 

When she retired from teaching, Jean began expanding their work together, traveling the world, running workshops, and eventually developing mentorship programs. Jean became more than just the organizer, as she was immersed in all things spiritual. Tapping into her natural teaching abilities, she helped students understand the craft, public speaking, and other essential aspects of mediumship.

Mavis and Jean believed that mediums should be trained fully, just like any other profession that deals with people’s minds, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and counselors. They emphasized that becoming an authentic medium required time commitment and in-depth study, and could not be achieved overnight. 

After Mavis’ death in 2022, Jean was determined to take Mavis’ legacy forward and ensure that her remarkable knowledge and experience will continue to inspire future generations. She believes that excellent mediumship heals two worlds, and that as Mavis always said, “Love, like life, can never die.”

Suzanne Giesemann

Mystic, Medium & Author

Suzanne Giesemann is a spiritual teacher, author, and messenger of hope who guides people to the certainty that love never dies and that we are part of a multidimensional universe. She has been featured on Watkins Mind Body Spirit Magazine’s 2022 list of the 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People.

Suzanne is a former U.S. Navy Commander, Commanding Officer, and aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Her transition from senior military officer to her current work is featured in the award-winning documentary Messages of Hope, based on her memoir by the same name.

What is the schedule?

All sessions will be held online through Zoom. There will not be any in-person engagement.

This training program starts on January 5, 2027, classes end on November 30, 2027 with the Capstone due December 7, 2027.

Three 90-Minute Theory Class Sessions Per Month With Jean Else (27 Total)

Tuesdays at 9:00am Pacific

Jean will teach three class sessions per month, with classes meeting on Tuesday every week of each of the three learning cycles (Parts I, II, and III) to cover the corresponding units. Suzanne will teach one masterclass per month (see below). Studying the science and theory of evidential mediumship provides a solid foundation and understanding of how to connect with the spirit world and practice mediumship ethically, while illuminating the profound impact it can have on our lives. Each 90-minute class session includes time for live Q&A with the instructor.

30-Minute Interactive Group Practice Session Following Each of Jean’s Classes

After each of Jean’s Tuesday class sessions, there will be an optional 30-minute interactive practice session. You’ll be placed in an intimate group with several other participants on the Zoom call to interact, share, and do additional practices to help you further integrate the lessons. Practice sessions are not recorded for playback; if you’re unable to attend the live sessions, the online community group allows you to connect with each other and find alternative times to interact.


One 90-Minute Masterclass Per Month With Suzanne Giesemann (9 Total)

Tuesdays at 9:00am Pacific

During each month that Jean’s class sessions are held, one Tuesday per month will be dedicated to a masterclass with world-renowned medium Suzanne Giesemann. This is a unique opportunity to be mentored by Suzanne and learn more specifics about her tested and verified evidence-based approach to mediumship — the process of discovering details only the sitter could know during readings. She will offer her expert guidance, share her reflections and insights, and close each of her nine sessions with live Q&A.

Four 90-Minute Mentorship Circles Per Month With an Assigned Mavis Pittilla-Authorized Teacher (36 Total)

Every week that Jean’s class sessions and Suzanne’s masterclasses are held will also feature a Mentorship Circle. Led by a cohort of Mavis Pittilla-Authorized Teacher Mentors, Circles will include dedicated time for Q&A and be offered for a variety of days and times to accommodate varying time zones, levels of experience, and availability. Once a specific Circle has been chosen, each student will remain with their same small group and mentor for the entirety of the Essentials Training. Attendance of all Mentorship Circles (4 per month, 36 total) is required to earn the program’s Certificate of Completion.

If I participate, how many hours per month should I plan on dedicating to this program?

This will vary, but on average, you can expect to spend approximately 15-24 hours per month on this program.

Will there be individualized guidance? 

This is a group training. However, during the classes and Integration Sessions, there will be opportunities for Q&A that may allow for direct faculty interaction. There will be opportunities for virtual connection to other students from around the world. Additionally, you’ll meet four times per month with a teacher mentor and a small group cohort in your circles for practice, discussion, and support throughout the duration of your study.

What is the cost, and do you offer payment plans? 

The investment is $5,000 USD if paid in full (a 9-month payment plan is also available). If you apply now with a payment plan, your first payment will be due upon registration, and subsequent payments will be automatically processed every 30 days until complete. The total payment plan price includes a finance charge. Any applicable discounts will be deducted from the total amount at the time of purchase.

The $100 application processing fee, which is included in your purchase, is non-refundable.

Are scholarships available?

A limited number of partial scholarships are available. Typical partial scholarships will provide a 25% reduction in program cost.

 Please submit your application here, and answer “yes” when asked, ”Are you applying for a Scholarship?” You will not be asked to submit payment while your scholarship application is being reviewed.

Typical partial scholarships will provide a 25% reduction in program cost, bringing the price to one payment of $3,750 USD (regularly $5,000) or nine monthly payments of $458 (a 10% finance charge is included in the monthly payment plan option).

Scholarships cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions. 

If you are awarded a scholarship and enroll in the program, your purchase will be non-refundable.

What is the refund policy?

The $100 application processing fee is non-refundable.

A refund for the program, minus the application fee, is available for any reason on or before Midnight Pacific on January 19, 2027. Refunds will not be available after this date.

To request a refund, please click on this refund request form and submit your request. Qualifying refunds will be processed within five business days of submitting your request and an email confirming the refund will be sent. However, we’d love to have a chance to address and resolve your concerns first. If there’s something we can assist you with, please email us at support@theshiftnetwork.com and we’ll be happy to help! (No refund requests accepted after the above date or with scholarships.)

May my enrollment be shared with friends or family?

No. We understand that it can be helpful to share with friends and family the meaningful insights, reflections, and revelations you experience during the program.

While we encourage you to share with others what you learn in the program, we ask that you do not share any of the program materials or anything from the Homepage or private Facebook Community Group.

We maintain this policy out of respect for our Faculty and to honor the contractual agreement with them. This program has been designed to replicate an in-person training as much as possible; therefore, each enrollment is designated for that participant.

How will I receive my certificate of completion?

Upon completing the full year of the program and satisfying all requirements, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion affirming that you’ve achieved the first level of the science, theory, and practical applications of evidential mediumship, based on the teachings of Mavis Pittilla. 

After a 60-day review period following completion of the program, students who successfully complete the year-long program requirements will be granted access to a digital certificate of completion.

What are the technical requirements for this program?

As this is an online professional training, intermediate technical skills are required to participate fully in this program. Students are required to have a computer or other device and will be asked to use Zoom and to complete online formative assessments and other reflections and assignments (an iPad or smartphone may suffice, but we recommend a laptop or desktop computer). Students will need to feel comfortable with basic navigation on our website and opening/playing media and other files (logging in, finding class sessions and materials, playing recordings, opening, filling out, and submitting PDF files, etc.), as well as accessing an online Student Portal to submit and track program requirements. Familiarity with scheduling software such as Calendly will also be beneficial. Important program information will regularly be sent via email, as well.
